Lack of early stage funding? No, its the lack of quality startups

The "equity gap" - by which I mean the lack of small amounts of risk capital for start-up and early growth - has been on the political agenda for the past 60 years or more. The present government has continued in the tradition of introducing various measures to increase the supply of early stage venture capital in the belief that the equity gap is a supply side problem (e.g. University Challenge funds, Regional Venture Capital Funds and tax incentives for corporate venturing and business angels). full article
