Reviewing innovation

The Sainsbury’s Review provided many good suggestions for rationalising and improving innovation in the UK, but there was less emphasis on securing the basic science from which innovation eventually emerges. Just a few days later, Research Councils UK published “Excellence with Impact”, the latest stage of their thrust to increase the economic impact of the research they fund.
